A tribute to Steve Jobs

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.” -Steve Jobs-

Steve Jobs
1955-2011

This month has been extremely busy but I wanted to take this opportunity to write a tribute letter to Steve Jobs for being such an inspiration for as long as I can remember.
I remember being in 6th grade and always listening to the older kids on my bus talking about this magic music box called the IPod.
and mind you, I still had a discman!
Little did I know, this magic music box and everything it comes from would come to revolutionize the world for the next 10 years.
This was clearly another day that took a part of something away from many people I know.
Twitter, and facebook feed started flooding with messages to Steve Jobs, and their most sincere condolences to Jobs' family.
What touched me the most was these millions of tweets came from strangers, me included who unfortunately never had the chance to meet Mr Steve Jobs personally.

As I'm now typing this blog post on my macbook pro, it makes me ponder how much impact these apple products actually have on our lives
I wake up in the morning,
play a game or two of doodle jump on my Ipad,
pull out my 100% charged Ipod nano, hop into the shower and play my shower playlist,
get my friends to take silly photos with me on photobooth for hours
and of course, the what time is it question always forces one to check out their iphone.
It's pretty extraordinary if you think about how the apple products have somehow worked their way into your daily routine.

What he's done in a lifetime, is what many aspire to achieve but what is most extraordinary, is that he has been able to achieve all that he could because he believed.
Steve Jobs Stanford commencement speech in 2005, is definitely a heartfelt and inspiring speech that many still replay over and over again. If you haven't seen it, youtube it!
I think the greatest message is to find what you truly want to do, and not settle. Don't be too competitive, don't be greedy. Do and love it for the right reasons.
And that if you believe that you can change the world, you can. You just have to genuinely want it enough and let no one convince you otherwise.
Think Different, like Apple has,
and everything Steve Jobs stands for

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Hello hello
This is definitely a bittersweet post for me to write as we bid adieu to Harry Potter.

No story lives unless someone listens.
-J.K. Rowling-

So I know it sounds cliche, it was like yesterday I watched my first Harry Potter movie yada, yada yada.
but jokes aside, it does bring back so much memories.
I remember in 2001, that was the first year I moved into my new school, I was 11.
and the final part of the movie will officially premiere in a few days marking the end of basically a decade, and this year, I'll be 21.
It's kinda crazy how it has been so long since the beginning but as we all know, every wonderful story inevitably has a conclusion.
I had the privilege of watching the LIVE premiere on youtube, exactly as it happened! I think they are showing reruns of the premiere so if you missed it, definitely head on over to the video and check it out, it was definitely a tearful event as the cast said their goodbyes but rest assured, it was filled with passion and emotion as everyone watched with mixed emotions.
It was amazing and such a pleasure to see how humbled they were as they stood there in awe of how many people camped out for this moment.
It was just such a surreal moment and all of a sudden it hits you that this is it, this is the end.
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson were just incredible, and it has definitely been such a pleasure technically "growing up" with them.
I'm not an insane fanatic but I would be lying if I said my childhood would have been the same without Harry Potter.
If i may quote, Thank you J.K. Rowling for making glasses/spectacles and red hair cool. :)

Without further adooooo.
Check out some of the photos from the premiere!

A good number of people have been criticizing this dress worn by J.K. Rowling but you know what, I think it holds quite a symbolic statement. To each its own.

I absolutely love this dress, Emma Watson is so classy and effortlessly beautiful.
The dress she's wearing is by Oscar De La Renta from the F/W 2011 collection.

This was definitely the breaking point for me when J.K. Rowling made her speech, I totally lost it.

'Whether it's by page or screen, Hogwarts will always welcome you home.'
-J.K. Rowling-

Thank you for the magic you've brought into our lives.
:)
Hogwarts will always be part of me
It was definitely a bittersweet moment as J.K Rowling finished her farewell speech.
I'm proud to say I am part of the Harry Potter generation.
I'll definitely be catching the Harry Potter movie, I hope you do too! and definitely tweet me and tell me what you thought about it:)

I won't say goodbye, I'll leave you with this though, toodles till later Hogwarts.
It's been quite a decade:)

Vera Wang: Love Struck ♥ Leighton Meester

Repost from my old blog! :) original link- http://distortedframes.onsugar.com/Vera-Wang-Love-Struck-Leighton-Meester-17568016
I screenshotted the frames you'll see in this blog post from the original Vera Wang, Love Struck ad. It would be amazing if you credited this blog post if you would like to use any of the screenshots I've done! :) thank you!

Hello hello

I've always been a fan of perfume commercials, you can only imagine my excitment when I found out Leighton Meester is the new face of Vera Wang's new perfume, Love Struck.
Ahhhh yesss, Blair Waldorf, the girl we all love to hate but secretly know she's pretty darn fabulous.-Having a Little J moment? haha Gossip Girl jokes aside, I've always thought Leighton Meester has such an elegant look, I'm so glad that she is finally the face of a label, even better, Vera Wang!:D

Love Struck by Vera Wang
is
“All about being overwhelmed, inexplicably, hopelessly in love. Allowing yourself to feel passion inspite of yourself, the situation, the repercussions. A new definition of Romeo and Juliet! Sexy, sensual, and unstoppable!” -Vera Wang

So I thought to myself.. What better way to explain the commercial than to do a little romantic photoblog with screenshots from the official commercial. Watch the official Vera Wang, Love Struck Commercial at the end of this post:)

Let's begin shall we!

The commercial begins with Leighton in a rose colored, almost petal-like dress as she stands at a fire escape waiting for her lover to arrive. I'm abso-freakin-lutely IN LOVE with the almost sepia, vintage like hue lighting! It is such a beautiful combination next to the rich wine colored dress.
It's such a juxtaposition if you think about it, an elegant dress, fire escape but you know if anyone can pull it off, Leighton Meester would be the one.

As she waits for her lover to arrive.... He's running with a bouquet of roses, um.. perfect shade of roses much? red is so yesterday! loving this!

For you make up lovers, thought this would be fun for you! absolutely in love with her make up. It's gorrrgeous!

He's finally here!

The magic moment when they meet! and she throws the roses down!

and creates a rose petal shower! maagggiccaaal.

I'm in luuuuurrrrrvvvveeee with this ad campaign picture of Love Struck, check it out.
I love that her dress is basically a well.. dress version of the perfume bottle! Classy, beautiful and pretty breathtaking if I say so myself!

Believe it or not, it actually took me 1 hour to screenshot these images because it was so difficult catching the exact moment and sometimes it would be blurrrrrrry! so it would be niceeeee if you could credit back to this blog post if you wanted to reuse the specific images from this blog post:) Please and thank you!:)

Check out the actual video, I promise you won't regret it!
Wondering what the scent is?
According to sources, the scent was inspired by Romeo and Juliet, " the sparkling floral fragrance is a sensual blend of pink guava, angelica blossom, tuberose and sheer musk"-stylelist.com
And for all of you perfume lovers that just can't WAIT to get your hands on Love Struck, love struck will hit shelves in August 2011. So mark your calendars darlings!
I hope you enjoyed this
So tell me, have you been Love Struck?

Toodles till later

Did you know? : Christian Louboutin Red Soles

Hello hello,
This is just a new section I've decided to include for my blog, they'll be quick [Did you know] post. Think fun facts!

Let's kick off the first issue of [Did you know] with one of my favorite Designer labels, Christian Louboutin.
So, yes, tell me what comes to mind when you hear Louboutins?
Is it the love Blair has for Louboutins, or is it that scene that last for less than 1 minute in Confession of a Shopaholic when Alicia, aka Spidery long legs comes rocking a signature pair of studded Louboutins.
Here comes [DID YOU KNOW]
Did you know that the signature red soles of Christian Louboutins heels was first done in nail polish because he wanted to give the heels an extra edge. Isn't it interesting that Designers have different ways of identification, other than a logo, Christian Louboutin has pushed the boundaries, making red sole high heels a trademark and every woman's heel desire.

"In 1992 I incorporated the red sole into the design of my shoes. This happened by accident as I felt that the shoes lacked energy so I applied red nail polish to the sole of a shoe. This was such a success that it became a permanent fixture."- Christian Louboutin

Remember, that the possibilities are endless, be adventurous, design daringly, be bold, and maybe one day you'll find exactly what you were looking for when you least expect it. Sometimes the best result begins with an accident, you'll be surprise how spontaneous, shocking and remarkable it'll be.
Good Luck.
toodles till later
